Great Crates!

I love old things. Especially when you can find new uses for themOne of my favorite finds of the past few years are vintage wooden soda bottle crates.  When I moved to Texas was the first time I purchased one.  It was a vintage blue “General Beverages” crate marked Abilene on it. I figured it would be a good piece to keep should we ever move from Texas since the crate came from the city of Abilene, TX.

???????????????????????????????

We carry unique and one of a kind pieces for all sorts of staging jobs

Fast forward 10 years and I’ve collected a few more.  I have since found a couple with Dallas on them too, but now I use them for storage solutions and unique staging props. They appeal to everyone, young and old.  And even if you can’t recall glass bottles of soda pop being delivered in wooden crates to your local market  you will recognize the names of the soda emblazoned on the box!

Recently I saw that Pottery Barn was selling these vintage boxes for a lot more $ than what I purchased these for.  I found the Pepsi crate while digging in an outdoor area of an antique store in Mineola, TX and because of the ‘weathering’ got it for a whopping $1! I haven’t paid more than $10 for any of them and you can find them too!

Here are some ideas for you to use them for too:

  • CD & DVD Storage
  • Coffee table tray
  • Sunday brunch- in- bed tray
  • Decorative home accent piece almost anywhere in the house, even on the wall as shelving
  • Garden supply tray
  • Outdoor picnic utensil holder
  • Drink server
  • Cool gift box for a hostess gift (or by itself is a great hostess gift!)
  • the list is endless!

Here is a photo of a recent home staging in Frisco,TX where the Pepsi crate was used for a coffee table accent piece.
